On May 15, 2025, Central Asia Tech Law was represented at the International Workshop on “Integration of AI in Academic Research”, hosted by the Department of Law, Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU) in partnership with ORIC.
Dr. Ammar Younas, founder of Central Asia Tech Law, delivered a session titled:
“Ethics, Responsible AI Use, and Data Privacy in AI-Assisted Academic Writing.”
His presentation examined how AI is reshaping academic knowledge production and challenged attendees to reflect on questions such as:
-
Are we designing tools that support learning—or replace it?
-
Can universal AI ethics exist when ethical values vary across cultures?
-
Should fairness in grading be machine-assisted if it undermines human skill?
Dr. Younas proposed a three-tier integrity model for AI-assisted academic work and introduced culturally grounded ethical reflections, including a rethinking of the Trolley Problem for AI in research.
The session featured international speakers including Dr. Jo Chitlik (Emory Law) and Dr. Shaheryar Naveed (FJWU), and fostered important discussion on the future of academic ethics in AI-driven environments.
